Help Selecting Surgeon

I am trying to decide between two wls options: Dr. Daryl Stewart out of Denton or Barker Bariatric out of Dallas. Can anyone help me or point me the right direction for further research. I am a cash pay patient and am planning on having surgery in February after helping my daughter with her new baby-my third grand baby I might add )

Secondly on doing research on a WLS surgeon dig, dig, dig and dig some more. If you are paying out of pocket you might find some of the lesser known or advertised surgeons can do a great surgery and have outstanding aftercare for what they charge. Little traveling might be in order too. I live near Cedar Creek Lake and went to Dallas for my RNY. Ex wife had hers done in Tyler and was far less expensive. Something to think about.

I can say that Dr. Stewart is great doctor.  I had my DS with Dr. Stewart 3 yrs ago (self pay) and I'm very pleased.  What surgery are you wanting to have.  If you are going with the DS, Dr. Stewart is the only one I would use.  He is a "vetted" DS surgeon.  Of course he also does the other 3 WLS also.  If you are going with a different WLS than yes, there are many surgeons out there that are great Doctors.

Brenda, thanks so much for your input. I am planning on the vertical sleeve since I am self pay. I have 130-140 lbs to loose. I think the DS is quite a bit more expensive and more invasive. Is that correct?? I am planning on having surgery, hopefully by February 13th.

I know Dr. Stewart is now doing surgery in Lubbock once a month.  I really can't say enough good/great things about him.  But you need to your homework on any surgeon before making this kind of decision.  And go with whom ever you are the most comfortable with.

Brenda, thanks for the info. I decided to go ahead and use Dr. Stewart and have DS instead of VS. I am at the airport in Lubbock heading to the Dallas area for the birth of my third grand baby, Scarlett. I will be staying with my daughter for 2-3 weeks and then straight to surgery in Frisco. I am SUPER excited about both - Precious Scarlett's arrival AND a new beginning after surgery. I have consultation with Dr. Stewart this Thursday, January 17th to set up time for surgery. So excited!!!
